Tips for Purchasing Travel Insurance
60
Have you ever thought of shopping for an insurance plan that will protect you from a disastrous business trip or family outing? Before going and shopping another insurance company that just handles travel insurance or one you have heard about, check the insurance company the insures your car, house, or boat right now. Yes, your present insurance carrier probably has travel insurance or is affiliated with a company that does. This way you are more than likely going to receive an even better discount, for having multiple policies.
Take into account a family travel insurance plan, even if you do most of your traveling alone. It shouldn’t be that much more, and you have the comfort of knowing that when your family is with you that everyone is protected. After all, having a child with you is reason enough to secure safety, before you are even deciding where you will go.
Consider this though when buying an insurance policy there will be two types. The one that will cover a single trip, and also aplan that will cover you yearly. If you are planning to make a couple trips this year, look into an annual policy, instead of attaining insurance several times a year. Maybe it will be cheaper maybe it won’t. Never hurts to shop. Try going through larger
companies instead of through a travel agent at the last moment. Which would be good also if you haven’t bargain hunted yet. Just make sure you and your trip is protected with some form of insurance.
As for most items, it pays to shop around and compare packages and prices. Do the work and it will pay off. If you are planning a trip start planning a policy that deals with the problems that you might face as you travel. This way you’re not rushed and you have mapped out problems that may arise in coordination with your trip. Make sure the policy covers main problems you will encounter: cancellation of a flight or if you miss it. Make sure the amount is sufficient enough to cover medical treatment, and be sure you are covered if your money is lost or stolen.
There is nothing that can take the place of knowing you and your trip is covered. Think about this, I know a woman who planned on taking a cruise she spent $15,000 for this Alaskan get away. Everyone was like what’s going to happen if something goes wrong and you don’t get to go? She would just smile and say I’ll crawl there if I have to. Well she got sick with a blood infection and couldn’t even crawl there. She was out $7500.00 if should could have spent $1500.00 for some travel insurance she wouldn’t had to worry about the non-transferable portion of her trip. The other part was applied to a later cruise that she will be able to take. Remember you never know when you will have to cancel your trip.
